Playing in football for years has made me realize how important it is that you look after your ankles.
After all, in a game, you can be twisting and turning constantly while also putting a lot of strain on it by playing for a long period.

Should You Buy Football Boots With Ankle Support?
For you to be here now, there is a good chance that you either have bad ankles, have injured that area before, or simply want to protect them as much as possible.
Now, most football boots should give you that ankle protection.
Although from trying on different ones I have found that some boots are better than others in this department.
While going for football boots that have added support around this area may sound like a no-brainer.
I wouldn’t necessarily say its something worth prioritizing all the time, as the majority of boots on the market I made to give you the best experience on the pitch.
So whether they are for you really does depend on your situation.
Are Ankle Support Football Boots Worth It For You?
If you have Achilles Tendonitis or Severs disease to name a few common ankle problems, then a pair of football boots that targets the ankle giving it more support is a no-brainer.
However, if you are simply just worried about getting your ankles injured then I wouldn’t say its worth narrowing down your options.
As with football and the physical nature of it, it is impossible to minimize the chances are you injuring your ankle.
Now lastly you could be here because you find yourself rolling your ankles a lot.
Its very unpleasant and can put you out of action for a while, but I must say that football boots won’t prevent you from doing this injury.
The best way to address this issue is to build the strength of your legs so you aren’t putting so much stress on your ankles.
With all that said and if you believe that football boots with ankle support are for you then these are the best ones out there.
1) Nike Mercurial Superfly

Nike has a number of good football boots for Ankle Support, but what is the best one they have to offer is the Mercurial Superfly’s.
These have two features that promote better support on this part of the foot, to start with you have the Anti-Clog traction.
This is brilliant if you play or are thinking of playing on a grass pitch, as the anti-clog on these Superfly’s stops the mud from clogging up.
Which will decrease the chances of you rolling an ankle, as you are able to grip to the surface better.
Now even if you are not playing on a soft ground surface, these boots still remain the best due to the seamless support across the board that they give.
I would also recommend going with the Superfly’s over the Vapors.
As the dynamic fit collar adapts to the shape of your ankle giving a secure feel that the Vapors don’t offer.
2) Puma Future Z

The Puma Future known for being the boots of choice of Neymar Jr is a pair that suits anyone looking for more ankle supports.
These boots give you the perfect lockdown due to the FuzionFit compression band in the middle of the boot.
It adapts to the shape of your foot and gives support to the ankle in games.
This keeps your feet locked down and will prevent them from being loose inside the boot.
All while giving you the explosive movement to move around the pitch, all while having that needed support.
Being made for players like Neymar, they are lightweight and built to be fast allowing you to speed off, but also to give you that protection as you do.
3) Adidas Speedflow X

Next up we have the X Speedflow boots that were made in made with inspiration to Messi’s style.
Now if you want a pair of boots that will support your every movement in any direction, offer you tremendous speed all while taking the pressure of your ankle then these are some of the best on the market.
A range of benefits starts with the supportive agility cage which along with a Prime Knit upper, allows you to dart around the pitch and make sudden movements in any direction without putting extra pressure on your ankle region.
To help you burst forward with speed, the boots have a Carbitrex Carbon Plate on the soleplate, that propels you forward making the act of getting out of your stride effortless.
4) Nike Phantom GT

The second generation of the Nike Phantom GT boots is another pair of boots that will do a solid job of giving your ankle support when hitting the pitch.
A low-cut collar, that has become part of the Phantom series ever since it was first brought in, in 2019, offers support just like the Mercurial Superflys’ do too.
The Flyknit is snug yet stretchy to give you an adaptive fit.
While the inclusion of Flywire cables gives your feet room to breathe, helps in keeping your foot in place while giving protection towards your ankle.
5) Adidas Predator Freak

The Predator Freak offers a laceless pair of boots that do a pretty good job of keeping your feet secure and most importantly supporting your ankle.
Compared to the previous versions of this silo, Adidas has put in a bigger dynamic collar all while keeping the laceless primeknit collar.
While maybe looking at the boots at first glance you wouldn’t think so, the combination of both the laceless primeknit and the collar provides a very good lockdown.
As a result, this gives your ankle maximum support, with it being tight and snug, something someone like yourself may be searching for.
Another area of the boot that is worth mentioning is the outsole that provides optimal traction to the surface and puts you in control of every step you make on the field.
All these additions and of course not forgetting the terrifying look makes these boots a great choice for anybody and a no-brainer if ankle support is what you are after.
