What To Look For In Nike Women’s Football Boots?
Before you even start looking for boots, you need to have some idea of what you’re looking for. You can check out my what to look for when buying football boots full guide here.
If not, I will quickly summarise the factors to bear in mind before going any further.
What surface are you planning on playing on?
So whether you are playing local football, kick about stuff or even professional, you need to know your surfaces, preferably to a T.
You see, when you type in women football boots online, you will likely see a few of each boots. At this point, this might confuse you because you have different options of the exact same boot.
Now, if your playing on firm ground, this is a hard grass surface.
Then you are looking for boots with ‘FG’ after it.
If your playing on the sloppy football pitches most brits are used to, then what your looking for is the symbol ‘SG’.
This simply stands for Soft Ground.
Now, if you play for a football club that either rents or have its own artificial pitch, then the best option is artificial grass boots, which you guessed it ‘AG’.
The least common and last option is indoor shoes.
You won’t need to look for symbols here because if the shoe shown has a flat sole, that will be enough to show you its indoor use.
Before you scroll down, my final tips are to sort the boots from the surface straight off the bat.
That way, you don’t need to sieve through all the options that come up.
What is your playing style?
Are you a clinical finisher like Sam Kerr, pace demon-like Mallory Pugh or a versatile attacking midfielder like Pernille Harder?
Well, whatever you choose, Nike has ranges made specifically for your style of game.
Now it’s not a case where a football boot helps you speed away from players but only helps you to toe punt shots over the bar.
That is because each boot is designed to help you reach the next level of your game while focusing on one specific area of the game.
Here are a few examples:
- Phantoms are made for precision in the final third, from defence-splitting passes to dictating the tempo with close control.
- Mercurials On the other hand, are designed for speed, they are thin sock-like boot, that is lightweight and is great for players who want to move ultra-fast.
So as you can see, there are different qualities to each boot, and knowing what you want out of a football boot, will make it easier for you to find yours.
Simplicity or Tech-focused Nike boots?
Nike caters for different tastes in boots, as they know not everyone is fussed about having the brightest boots or ones that will help you levitate.
So, as a result, you will be able to find either simply designed boots or the fanciest boots. It all depends on your preference.
To warn you, some of the boots below have some really nice designs.
However, if you want a traditional type of boot, the tempos I will talk about may have your name written on them already.
Level of your game?
Not the biggest deal-breaker, but the level of your game will help you decide which tier boots will suit you.
If you don’t know already, Nike has a system where you have Elite and Pro versions. These are regarded as the better ones and Club and Academy boots wh0 simply just want a pair of boots.
So if you play in the Women’s Premier League, then Elite football boots, despite the cost, are a no brainer.
If you haven’t kicked a ball yet, then lower-tier boots will more than do.
Now just a quick heads up, for the football boots that I will get onto now, the links will likely take you to the elite version.
They cost between £150-£250 for a pair.
So if you aren’t comfortable spending that amounts on boots, you can click on the links and find the same boot in a Pro, Academy Or Pro version for a lot cheaper.
The Best 10 Nike Women’s Football Boots You Can Buy Today
I will share with you 10 boots in total that are great suits for women looking to get involved in the game.
Seven specific football boots now and then later three football boots that top women footballers have customized.
With each boot, I will highlight some of the main features, the best version’s price, and my thoughts on them.
1) Nike Phantom GT
Worn by top players of the women game, Crystal Dunn, Lucy Bronze and Pernille Harder, you have the Nike Phantom’s GT.
These have been a popular choice of football boots since their release in 2019, and with this model, there is a lot to like.
If your aim is to have boots that will neaten up your touch and help you dictate a game’s pace, then these could be for you.
Now hence the GT part in the name, these boots contain a series of generative texture on the upper of the boot.
Each placed carefully at different angles, all with the aim of giving you a great feel of the boot. Something the majority of us are looking for when seeking out football boots.
2) Nike Mercurial Dream Speed Superfly 8
If you are a woman that wants to excel in the speed and dribbling aspect of your game, there isn’t a boot better suited than the Superfly’s.
The ‘dream speed’s’ was made for the speed merchants who want to leave opposing players in their tracks.
Thanks to a lightweight upper made to cushion your feet and flyknit technology, you are able to glide past players with ease.
Inspired by the idea of Spacecraft, you have a design that gives you vibes of heat, which altogether looks great.
These are also worn by pacey professional players, including Aussie Sam Kerr and Cristiano Ronaldo.
3) Nike Tiempo Legend 8
Nike Tiempo Legends features the high-quality kangaroo leather that was used too in a Tiempo football boot.
To improve on the already good 7’s, Nike has made adjustments to make these more comfortable to wear.
The two main takeaways being giving you more support over the ankle area with a better Flyknit fit. Secondly, you have a quadfit mesh that now fits and wraps your foot better.
Additionally, you have a textured surface similar to the GT’s that offers you a better touch.
4) Nike Mercurial Superfly Dragonfly
Released at the start of 2021, Nike brought out the latest 8th edition of the Nike Mercurial Superfly’s.
Made to primarily improve your movement on the pitch, there is a focus on the traction and the weight of the boot to make this possible.
This is why the inspiration is a ‘Dragonflys Wing’ because their goal is to mercurials that feel so light that it almost feels like your playing barefoot.
To make this possible, Nike has come out with a new vaporposite upper and grid mesh that will notice on the midsole of the boot.
The traction has been optimized to be responsive to quick turns.
All of this to help you get the best out of two vital aspects of a players game: movement and touch.
This makes these boots a great fit for women’s football growing in popularity and competition.
5) Nike Mercurial Vapor Dream Speed 7
The Mercurial Vapor Dream Speeds were made with a great message behind them.
That being that you working hard and thinking big is what will help you in the pursuit of your goals.
This is a sum-up of what the face of Mercurials Cristiano Ronaldo had to say about them. He also had an influence on the design of the boots too.
With that said, these boots look very classy with patterns on the insole inspired by speed and a safari shoe launch years ago.
6) Nike Phantom VNM
The Nike Phantom Venoms are another solid choice for any women who aspire to forwards.
With the Venoms, there has been attention to detail with aspects to help strikers perform their best. The main details added here are the injected blades which can be found on the insole.
This allows players to hit the ball and create the spin they want.
Nike has also added features to help forwards strike the ball and to help there touch.
There has been an added impetus on it for touch, with a honeycomb micro-texture around the toe area to help you control the ball better.
To prevent a players foot from giving way while attempting to shoot, foam pods have been added around the heel to bring more stability.
Giving players a nice feel, there has been an integration of a Flyknit upper with Flywire cables intertwined to give you a close fit while allowing the boots to breathe.
7) Nike Mercurial Vapor 13 (Tech Craft)
In 2020 Nike treated fans to a new edition of the Tech Craft Pack. These were limited edition and included the Mercurial Vapor.
These are different from the other mercurials.
Instead of the usual flyknit we are used to, they are made of Kangaroo leather, which has been finely stitched.
Now the feel of the boot hasn’t really changed, they will still feel light, and with an Aerowtrac zone, you will still find yourself being able to manoeuvre fast.
Are There Boots That Are Specifically Made For Women?
Out of the main sporting brands that make football boots, it is Nike that has put more attention on boots for women.
In recent years they have been working more closely with women’s footballers. This includes customized boots for some of the top stars of the game.
Victory Pack
2019 saw Nike release two packs of boots, both of which being related to the ‘Victory Pack’. This was released just before the world cup and came with four boots is primarily metallic designs.
After the world cup, they went on to create special versions of these boots for the victors USA.
They featured the names of the footballers, which included Mallory Pugh, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, who Nike sponsors.
The design was also influenced by the Americas flag and included the words ‘the goddess of victory.
Motion Blur Pack For Women
In 2017 we witnessed Nike launch two memorable football boot packs. Both were part of the Motion Blur pack. However, there was a range made for everyone, and then another for women.
The motion blur pack, in general, had some of the coolest designs I have seen from Nike.
The version for women was equally on par with some interesting, vibrant designs.
The standout boot for me was the Nike Mercurial Superfly that was in a Grey and Pink colourway. Here is a picture of them below.
Nike Football Boots Designed By Women
As I mentioned earlier, some of the household names of women football that are working with Nike have made their own customized boots.
1. Pernille Harder
Pernille Harder who arrived at Chelsea after her record signing fee from Wolfsburg as her own pair of the Phantom GT’s.
These include all the technology that I spoke about earlier. However, the differences are within the designs.
The boots feature red on the swoosh as well as on the logo and on the back where it says repeat rather than phantom.
With the rest of the boot, you have a white and black theme. On the sole, you have what looks to be shiny silver.
2. Crystal Dunn
The second player to have their own phantoms is Crystal Dunn, who was an influential player in helping the USA win their 4th world title.
Compared to Pernille, the design is a lot more vibrant. You have a yellow dynamic collar along with laces.
With the rest of the boot, you have a simple mixture of white and grey. At the back of the boot, you have the flag of the nation.
3. Lucy Bronze
The fact that Lucy Bronze won Fifa’s world women’s player of the year tells you how much of a quality player she has become.
With a fantastic understanding and great technique, Lucy does her talking with yet again the Nike Phantom GT’s.
In a yellow and white pixelated design, they have the words ‘Tough’ on them to describe what kind of a football player she is.
For all the player’s boots listed in this list, you can purchase the same boots each of the players wear over on Nike’s website.
Can Women Wear Men’s Football Boots Also?
Nike accounts for both women and men by making unisex football boots that will fit different types of feet and allow players on both fields to play to their potential.
The only different types of football boots made are one for adults and the other for kids.
They are made the same and to provide the same goal to the player.
On the website, you will find dropdowns, which include a section on Women’s football boots.
However, what is shown here apart from the odd boot is the same to men.
Like I spoke about, there are packs released from time to time, where the design is for women.
But with that said, men can also wear these boots if they desire to.
Do You Have To Pay More Money?
Since like I spoke about, there aren’t specific gender boots like you would find with regular shoes, the prices are the same.
If you wanted to pay for some Nike Phantom GT’s, you would be paying exactly the same as men and vice versa.
Conclusion
As you can see by this list, there are some fantastic Nike football boots for women that are brimmed with Technology and have impressive designs to go with them.
Feel free to use the links I have attached with each boot. These will take you straight to each pair of boots so you can check them out further.
