Just like any type of shoe out there, you have your cheap tier and you have the expensive tier or should we say premium level.
This is very much the case with football boots and with them, there is a big range when it comes to prices.
Now you won’t be surprised to hear that football players get all the new and up-to-date boots as soon as it comes out.
These are normally the most expensive and latest boots made by the brands which feature all the new tech.
However, how much are the most expensive boots they are wearing, and for someone who is not playing at the professional level are they worth paying for.
I will give you my verdict in this guide and share my own experiences of buying both the top-end boots as well as the ones at the lowest price point.

How Much Should You Spend On Football Boots?
This is a common question as whenever new brands like Nike and Adidas enroll their latest boots onto the market they come at different price points.
If we take the Tiempos as one example, they will be a range of them on the store at different budgets.
You will have the most expensive ones, these will be the ones the professionals are wearing.
The cheaper ones on the other end still look the same, but the big difference is how it’s made.
As you would expect they are made of cheaper materials and aren’t teched up as the more expensive ones.
But at the end of the day how much you should spend all depends on two factors for me. That being:
- How much is your budget?
- How serious/level are you playing at?
The first one is an obvious one as you may have a budget in mind, you may want to keep under £50 or you might not be restricted and can buy whatever is on offer.
What is the good news is that just like with the size of football boots there is a pair out there for any budget too.
What Is The Price Difference?
If we talking about the top brands, then you’re looking at around £30 for the cheapest football boots available.
For the most expensive boots it goes up to £200-300, these are the ones the pros wear.
There are more expensive boots out there, but these are likely collectibles, signed boots, or designer ones.
For e.g Balenciaga has a range of football boots that cost over £450.
So you shouldn’t find too many boots that are out of the £30-£300 range.
Do They Give You An Advantage?
Playing with the most expensive boots or those that are worn by the best players won’t automatically make you a much better player.
When it comes to ability and being good at the game, the boots you wear won’t affect you too much.
For instance, if someone like Cristiano Ronaldo was given a pair of cheap boots while he may get a few blisters it wouldn’t affect him too much in front of goal.
Now boots with a big price tag won’t make you a professional footballer.
However, being someone who has used both cheap and expensive I can say there are certainly some advantages to them.
Firstly because of the better materials and technology they put into the top-boots, they can give you a better experience.
From my experience, they fit around your feet more easily and therefore give you more control on the pitch.
They aren’t going to help you put it into the top corner or pick out that defense splitting pass, but they should give you a better feel and be more comfortable.
What Boots Are There That Are Really Expensive?
Over the course of the year, brands will release new boots on a seasonal basis.
These are what are called ‘packs’ and are often themed.
Now with each pack and like I mentioned earlier, you will have boots that are in the high tier and are made with the latest technology.
While boots aren’t a big deal, having the most expensive ones will give you that edge as I spoke about earlier.
So depending on how serious you are taking football, investing in some could be a smart move.
So let’s have a look at the most expensive football boots in 2022 that while will require you to fork out an extra few quid will help you with your football game.
1. Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 Elite
Currently, the most expensive football boot over at Nike is the new version of the Nike Mercurial Superfly 3 Elite.
These were launched back in February 2020 and as you can see from the photo is black and white with different graphics.
While Nike has chopped and changed with their types of boots with ranges like the Hypervenoms going out the door and the phantoms coming in, the mercurials have been a mainstay over the years.
The Mercurials have always been styled by Nike for those who are looking to dribble with the ball fast while maintaining control of the ball.
For the latest Mercs, they accommodate a Nike Aerowtrac zone which is a new technology released.
It helps players to play at a fast tempo while also having supercharged traction.
2. Adidas Predator Mutator 20+
The first of the Adidas boots on the list features the revived Adidas Predators.
These feature a new knit textile that wraps your foot giving you that perfect fit.
To add to their intimidating look and intriguing look, they have 406 rubber spikes along the upper.
These are added to give you extra grip and swerve.
With these being not only high-tier boots from Adidas its not surprising to see that the price label is £229 for these bad boys.
That makes them one of the most expensive football boots they have to offer right now.
3. Adidas Nemeziz+
Next up we have more Adidas boots, these are the laceless Nemeziz+. This version of Nemeziz has had a lot of its elements changed from the previous while keeping the same DNA.
One of those changes is a new tension tape upper construction.
This is to allow the boot to adapt much better to the shape of your foot.
Now while these boots are of course hyped up and will be popular, the design won’t be for everyone has its very unique.
However, if you are fan of the way the Nemeziz+ is designed and like the wacky look, then this one might be for you.
Again like the Adidas Predator Mutators your looking at £229.
4. Nike Phantom Scorpian Elite
The most expensive boots on this list are the Nike Phantom Scorpian Elite boots that were released back in November 2020.
This pair of boots brings elements of the past and the future together and as gone down a storm among professional footballers.
Here you have the Phantom range which is the future of Nike boots and was only started a few years ago.
But the design is inspired by a scorpion Nike advert that was launched many years ago for the 2002 World Cup.
Within that advert it featured a Nike ball that featured a scorpion on it, this is the same as on these pair of Phantoms hence the name used.
Now what is good about these boots is it features a data-driven grip, this is an innovative texture that gives players a better touch for striking a ball.
Are Expensive Football Boots Worth It?
Whether expensive football boots are worth it for you does depend on you and how seriously you take the sport.
If you let’s say just want a pair for having a kick about a park and nothing more than that, then some cheap ones will be sufficient.
However, if you are someone who plays football all the time for a team, then it could be worth trying out the top-tier boots to see if they are worth it for you.
