Dancing Ice has become a nice opportunity for footballers to get back into the limelight after calling time on their careers.
Since the show started airing in the UK back in 2006, the show has featured several footballers.
Its a show that, along with strictly come dancing, has become quite popular for those in the post-career.
These are players who, in their day, were well known and made numerous appearances for their club and country.
So in this post, we will be having a look at the contestants who were featured on the show.
Table of Contents
1. David Seaman
One of the best goalkeepers to play for England, David Seaman, entered the show back when it was first announced.
For someone, who was known for his fast reflexes and movement in goal, it was a smart decision to go on the show.
As along with a nice paycheck, the MBE awarded player finished an impressive 4th in the show.
Only to be beaten by Bonnie Langford, singer Stefan Booth and eventual winner Gaynor Faye.
He went on two years after calling time on his career at 42 after a short spell with Manchester City.
2. Lee Sharpe
Lee Sharpe won’t be one of the most memorable players to play for Manchester United.
However, the player who played for the red devils over the late eighties and early nineties was a big part of the club’s success.
Now Lee decided to enter the show a year after David, for season two, in which he faired just as well.
Finishing in a respectable 5th position and being the 7th contestant to be eliminated was a decent feat for the midlands born player.
3. Graeme Le Saux
Graeme Le Saux was the next footballer to step foot on the ring in Dancing On Ice for the 4th series.
As you can see in the image above who is the second on the left, the ex-player is now spending his time as a football pundit.
Despite being an energetic, full-back, who had spells with Chelsea and Blackburn, his time was rather short-lived, to put it bluntly.
The Jersey-born player was the first contestant in 2009 to be booted from the show, alongside dance partner Kristina Lenko.
4. Kevin Kilbane
Kevin Kilbane was the first footballer to appear on the rebooted Dancing Ice after taking a break for 4 years.
The Irishman who had spells at West Brom, Sunderland, Everton and Wigan.
All before entering the 12th edition of the series in 2020.
Alongside Brianne Delcourt, who is now married too, the couple was the 4th to be eliminated out of 11.
Nowadays, Kevin spends his time out in Canada with his wife, covering MLS matches with TSN.
5. Jamie Vardy’s Wife
The last player to have affiliation with Dancing On Ice is Leicesters star man Jamie Vardy.
However, with his fully focused on playing still, his wife Rebekkah entered the show.
Of whos fame has steadily been growing due to the rise of midlands based player.
She entered the most recent edition, series 21 in 2021, and made it all the way to 5th alongside Andy Buchanan.
Finishing Off
There you have it. Those are all the footballers who have been on Dancing On Ice since the show started running.
With the show possibly being cancelled, there is a chance that those on this list who play football will be the only ones to go on.
