With Fifa 22 just around the corner, you may already be planning your ultimate teams and career mode, so you are ready to go.
Now MLS is one of those leagues, which I have always found to be an underrated league on the game.
You have so many quality players that for ultimate team in particular you can build a team around in the early stages for a low amount of coins.
These gems aren’t just nice pickups for boosting your ultimate team, but also for your career mode saves as well.
So in this post, I am going to take you through some of the best MLS players in Fifa 22 to look out that based on the previous season should offer good value for users of the game.
Table of Contents
1. Carles Gil
- Age: 28
- Club: New England Revolution
- Position: Center Attacking Midfield
- Current Rating: 76 CAM
- Rating Prediction: 80
Carles Gil signed for the revs back in 2019 as a designated player for $2 million.
While the club broke the record for the player, it’s safe to say he has proved to be significant value for money.
Formerly known for his spells at Villa in the premier league, the now 28-year-old has become an instant hit and instrumental member of the team alongside the other team DP Gustavo Bou.
Despite being a third of the way through the 2021/22 season, Gil has already accumulated 12 assists which is just short of one a game.
Moving to Fifa though, the Spaniard hasn’t been given the best of cards for Fifa 21 and while he does have a gold common card, the stats aren’t exactly up there.
However, based on the current season and the last one, where he won newcomer of the year, we should see a big upgrade to his card.
At the moment he has 76, but with his goals and assists, we should see an overall boost, with my prediction being a solid 80 rated card.
2. Carlos Vela
- Age: 33
- Club: LAFC
- Position: Left Wing
- Current Rating: 83
- Potential Rating: 80
Carlos Vela has had an illustrious career, and when he made a surprise switch to expansion side LAFC it was no surprise that he instantly ripped up the league.
Now entering his third season with the Cali-based team, Vela has scored 55 goals in 77 games.
One season in which saw him break the MLS record of 34 goals, which is practically a goal a game.
However, a combination of both injuries and him taking time off for his newborn child meant he saw much less game time.
In total he only made 7 appearances, however, was still able to score 3 goals.
Knowing how EA do their rating system, this won’t bear well and unfortunately for the Mexican, he will likely be knocked down a point or two.
3. Diego Rossi
- Age: 23
- Club: LAFC
- Position: Left Wing
- Current Rating: 75
- Potential Rating: 80
One thing was clear last season, and that was Carlos Vela’s absence had a big effect on LAFC.
However, while it was a season to forget for LAFC fans and players, Diego Rossi at least gave people something to shout about after his top draw performances last season.
While still at the young age of 23 the Urgrayan has already featured for his country and scored 12 goals in a reduced season of 22 games.
You could say he helped them get out of trouble to not be in the pack teams not in the playoffs with his involvement.
Overall it was thoroughly deserved that he won MLS young player of the season, and also was involved in Fifa 21’s team of the season where he received the second highest card for the league at 91.
For his Fifa 22 card though, we should see based on the above a sizeable upgrade to as high as 80 ratings, of which could be a rare gold instead of the common he is now.
His Fifa 21 card at the start was great for starter squads, so I can only imagine how good is Fifa 22 card will be once he has a few upgrades on the shooting and dribbling.
4. Raul Ruidiaz
- Age: 31
- Club: Seattle Sounders
- Position: Striker
- Current Rating: 76
- Potential Rating: 79
Raul Ruidiaz has been a quality signing for the sounders outfit ever since making his mark in the MLS in the summer of 2018.
The Peruvian born striker has shown his natural goalscoring capabilities and his lethal nature in front of goal with 17 goals in 17 games last season.
He also leads the goalscoring charts for the 21 season too with 11 in 15 games, with one of his most recent games seeing him produce this bit of magic.
As for his Fifa card, he currently has a 76 rated gold rare card, which when you consider the fact he averaged a goal in every game he scored last season is certainly quite low.
It’s going to be hard for EA to ignore his goalscoring record of the past few seasons, and with a team of the season 90 rated card awarded in May, we should get a good upgrade of a 79 minimum card come September.
5. Nani
- Age: 34
- Club: Orlando City
- Position: Left Winger
- Current Rating: 80
- Potential Rating: 81
While at the peak of his career now Nani is still showing his class abroad over in the US for Orlando City.
Before he signed, the Florida based club had never qualified for the play-offs, however, his impact on the team and his goals helped them reach the eastern conference semi-finals.
For the 2020 season, the Portuguese international scored 7 goals in 12 games and has a result received an MLS team of the season card, with an overall rating of 94 boosting him from his original rating of 80.
A little bit like Vela, EA is known for downgrading players as they get older, and while Nani had a great season we probably won’t see a huge upgrade.
There should though be a +1/2 upgrade added on, taking him 80 to 81, with the shooting and dribbling increased.
6. Alejandro Pozuelo
- Age: 29
- Club: Toronto FC
- Position: Centre Attacking Midfielder
- Current Rating: 79
- Potential Rating: 81
From the second Pozuelo touched down in Toronto FC after becoming a designated player, the Spaniard hit the ground running.
Known for his creative nature, and being able to create goals, he finished joint top of the league on assists alongside Darwin Quintero and Nicolas Lodeiro on 10 assists, while also chiming in with 9 goals also too.
His team helped TFC secure second place in the east and only just miss out to the supporter’s shield by Philadelphia Union with just three points in it.
Unsurprisingly his contribution also got him into back to back Fifa team of the seasons, with a 91 rated card which was a +1 on the 90 rated special card he received back in Fifa 20.
Despite being in two-team of the seasons in a row, Pozuelo received a downgrade for Fifa 21 with him having a non-rare gold card of 79 compared to his 80 rated the previous year.
However, with his performance last season arguably being the playmakers best season in the MLS, we should be seeing at least an 81 rated card.
With a few upgrades across the board to acknowledge his performances over the last year, it should make him a quality but also a cheap card to use in the early stages of Fifa 22 Ultimate Team.
7. Jonathan Mensah
- Age: 31
- Club: Columbus Crew
- Position: Centre Back
- Current Rating: 71
- Potential Rating: 75
8. Kai Wagner
- Age: 24
- Club: Philadelphia Union
- Position: Left Back
- Current Rating: 72
- Potential Rating: 74
